Our Mission

Since 1968, Special Olympics strives to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, prepare for entry into school and community programs, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of skills and friendships with their families and other Special Olympics athletes and their community.

What is the Law Enforcement Torch Run?

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is a year-round fundraising and awareness building program designed to allow the members of the law enforcement and public safety communities the opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes who live, work, and compete in their local communities. One example on how you can get more involved is by participating in this event, the Cruiser Convoy! The Law Enforcement Torch Run was founded in 1981 in Kansas! How Your Donation Helps

Special Olympics Massachusetts receives very little federal or state funding and is almost entirely dependent on individual and corporate donations to support its programs. No athlete ever pays a fee to participate in Special Olympics. Our goal is to reach out and increase the number of participants each year while maintaining the quality of our training programs and competitions already benefiting so many Massachusetts citizens with intellectual disabilities. Like any team, we can't do it alone. Thank you for your support!
